High-performance Film Capacitors for EV

In new energy electric vehicles, capacitors are the key components to determine the life of variable frequency drive in energy control, power management, power inverter and DC-AC conversion systems. The DC-LINK capacitor is connected with the energy storage battery and the inverter unit to absorb the high pulse current of the inverter from the DC-Link end, which can prevent the high pulse voltage from being generated on the impedance of the DC-Link, so that the voltage fluctuation at the inverter end is within an acceptable range; At the same time, it can prevent the inverter from being affected by the voltage overshoot and transient over-voltage at the DC-Link terminal.

 

The main technical specifications of DC-Link capacitors are capacitance, withstand voltage and operating temperature range. In addition to these three main indicators, another important technical indicator is the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the capacitor. In the DC-Link capacitor, the ESR represents the loss of the capacitor itself. The lower the ESR, the smaller the loss, the larger the output current, the lower the heat of the capacitor, and the better the performance.
